From the book's Amazon promo section: "The demon is a mob, and the mob is demonic. The Democratic Party activates mobs, depends on mobs, coddles mobs, publicizes and celebrates mobs—it is the mob. Sweeping in its scope and relentless in its argument, Demonic explains the peculiarities of liberals as standard groupthink behavior. To understand mobs is to understand liberals.

From a reviewer: "Demonic is primarily a book that seeks to highlight the mob-psychology that often occupies space in modern politics. Ann equates the "mob mentality" with literal demonic/evil influence- a notion that many may feel takes the argument too far."

Despite coming from a Christian foundation, Coulter often comes up with interesting observations on progressives tactics and characteristics and she is like a pit bull in going for their throats.

We see freedom being lost time and time again when politicians give in to mob rule kinds of tactics and with the current clutch of progressives, socialists, and communists it is coming out into the open much more often - think of the demonstrations we have seen put on by groups as diverse as La Rasa and the Wisconsin School teachers.

Be aware, I've not yet read the book and I'm only going by reviews and hearing her pimp the book on Fox. Coulter appears to want to ground this in God or the Devil, but it fits quite nicely for me with faith/altruism/force versus reason/rational-egoism/capitalism. If you come from the unreasoning/make-sacrifices/statism side, then group-think/emotional-bullying/mob-politics seems like the likely tactic and a good thing for us to understand.

Am I being mean-spirited to delight in tearing off the lamb suit that wolf is trying to hide in? :-)

Steve,

To paraphrase a popular quote: "Extreme delight in the defense of liberty is no vice."

:-)
