| | The bill contains a provision that would make it illegal for an employer not to interview someone who is unemployed. Some employers don't want to hire someone who's been out of the job market for awhile, because they think he or she is not as employable as someone who is currently working but looking to change jobs.
In any case, such a provision is unnecessary, because a person who vacates his job for another makes his previous job available to someone who is currently unemployed. Not every employer is looking to hire only people who are currently employed. And even an employer who is will have to hire someone who is unemployed if he cannot find a currently employed applicant who is acceptable.
You have to be careful with these bills, because they contain hidden provisions, which are often not read or discussed. The 2,000-page health care bill was a case in point. How many legislators read that from cover to cover.
