We've learnt from Greece for over 2000 years. In the movie, 300, the sole Greek survivor of the Battle of Thermopylae (the "Hot Gates") was Dilios, played by David Wenham, and he said:
This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine. Now that's some serious pre-Randian "Objectivism" right there: i.e., That the Good is reason and freedom, and that the Bad is faith and force. Now, we're getting a second chance to learn from the Greeks. We're getting a chance to learn from their bad example -- a statist government gone bust.
