Rodney’s video submission

I heeded the instructions and watched the video without knowing the title or the context.

At first, I thought the video was about how man should live on Earth, commanding Nature by first obeying it (a la Francis Bacon's centuries-old insight) and trading value for value with others (a la Carl Menger). Then I noticed the theme switch to nature destroying man and whatever value he had traded.

The sense of life of this sick video is on par with the muck spewed by Bertrand Russell’s “A Free Man’s Worship”:

“The life of Man is a long march through the night, surrounded by invisible foes, tortured by weariness and pain, towards a goal that few can hope to reach, and where none may tarry long …”

YUCK!

Ed

p.s. Hey, I was just thinking that we should start a YouTube Video club, very much like a book club. Anyone interested?

I thought it was supposed to be funny, but then it just got weird.

I did have sympathy for the idol, however.

The comments talked about the "message" and how great it was. I have no idea what this was supposed to represent. The actions (and plot?) seemed totally random to me — and repugnant. Everything was gratuitous and nihilistic.

(Those were my impressions before I checked out the comments on YouTube.)

I haven't even checked out the comments yet (or the title).

Rodney, should I remain back in my self-directed intellectual fox-hole so that I can serve as an ignorant-but-intelligent witness to respond to more questions about this thing?

Or should I check it out now?

Sure, go ahead. The film is titled Rabbit and more info is here. This is no test--I'm just interested in others' reactions. By the way, the film was supported by Arts Council England and Channel 4:
Channel 4 is a public-service television and radio broadcaster in the United Kingdom, centred around a television channel of the same name which began transmissions on November 2, 1982. Although entirely commercially self-funded, it is ultimately publicly owned: Originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the station is now owned and operated by the Channel Four Television Corporation, a public body established in 1990 for this purpose and which came into operation in 1993, following the abolition of the IBA.

I thought it was very weird, and I kind of predicted something terrible would happen for the kids' "greed"

Did anyone notice that the objects and animals had names, but that the children did not, nor did the cat/tiger.
