Also, did you pay any attention to the reaction of those seated behind her. I expected people to be cracking up, but I didn't see much of a reaction, which is itself a little scary. Maybe they were just being polite.

It was painful to watch. I couldn't finish it.

I think if I had been in the audience, I would have felt embarrassed for her. Watching people making fools of themselves is uncomfortable.

I have mixed feelings about naive people who make fools of themselves and get humiliated on a world-wide scale. She certainly is a fool with obvious limitations in her mental abilities but I think she is to some degree a victim. I think she's probably a result of the "self-esteem" movement that led her to believe that she has capabilities beyond her reach. I also think that she was probably encouraged by others to make her speech for reasons of their own.

The people who should really be humiliated are those who were behind her pathetic performance. What she needs is some kindly person to sit down and explain to her what the situation is. There's no point in devastating her.
