No group rights in legislation

No group rights in legislationI got my first letter to the editor published in Atlanta's primary gay newspaper, Southern Voice.  The letter was in response to the following article:

http://www.sovo.com/2005/4-29/news/national/microsoft.cfm

And here's what I said:

Re “Microsoft, Procter Gamble caving to religious leaders?” (news, April 29):
The real issue here is corporate intrusion into legal matters in an attempt to influence legislation.

Gay rights activists of the leftist variety have been attempting to pressure businesses for years, leveraging their “market share.” Now this has come back to bite them, but they haven’t learned.

Legislation should be based on individual rights only, which protects everyone, including gay people like me. Legislation should not be at the whim of pressure-group warfare, whether the prevailing group is the gay activist camp or the religious camp.
