This "mandate" issue is what has most people pissed off, so naturally it wasn't mentioned very much by the Marxist and Chief. It's plain and simple tyranny imposed on The People by pompous wannabe dictators. One more shove toward wholesale totalitarianism.
I heard the audio to this clip listening to Limbaugh today, and was happy there was a video version. It was wonderful to see the challenger's face, Robert Broadus.
According to Sen. Cardin, Mr. Broadus is a shiftless, irresponsible moocher because he want's to make his own decisions about what's left of his income after it's been raided by Federal taxes, State taxes, Local taxes, Social Security "benefit" contribution taxes, Medicare "benefit" taxes, sales tax, gas taxes, property taxes, and who knows? Maybe a child support order thrown in for fun. If Robert's lucky, he might be able to keep about 35% of what he actually earns.
To Cardin, Robert Broadus is guilty before he's even done anything wrong, or broken a single bone. He looks like a strong, healthy man to me, but that will be his undoing. Poor guy. He'll pay and pay and pay and pay into a system that won't be there for him when he needs it. He'll work and work and work and work for the pleasure of paying for everyone else's benefit but his own.
