| A good introduction to Straussian thought by one of it's most famous teachers. This book gives a run down of the current state of culture and the university from Bloom's perspective. From his view of books, love, relationships, music and creativity. He than goes on to comment on German philosophy and how it has shaped American thought and politics in the 20th century for the worse. Following this, he moves on to give a brief history of political thought from ancient to modern. Agree with him or not, I believe people here will find Bloom is definitely an interesting personality. The funniest thing about the book is how little he talks about Leo Strauss. You'll also get a good look into the writing and communication style of Straussian scholars.
