The Swiss Menace Posted by Luke Setzer on 8/31, 6:28am
I wanted to post this article for discussion of what we can expect in America over the coming generations if Obamacare happens. Supporters point to numerous empiricisms claiming that health care systems in other countries "work" at achieving a baseline level of health for the most common ailments. They deride the United States for being the only country lacking such a system. With all this alleged "empirical support" as well as the seeming groundswell of grassroots support, I have this sick feeling (sic) that Obama will get his way. Is there anyone on RoR who has lived in another country and had a "positive" experience with its health care? Other than our fundamentalist argument that "man is an end in himself," what can we say to counter pro-Obamacare propaganda in the face of the so-called "overwhelming" empirical evidence "supporting" the "affordability" of "universal" government health care? My own prediction is that it will snuff, once and for all, whatever is left of the American spirit of individual independence, but most people will not believe me.
