This Is Why Poor People's Bad Decisions Make Perfect Sense
Posted by Luke Setzer on 11/25, 8:33am
The author argues that poverty inculcates short-term survival mode thinking which in turn generates more poverty. Some of the comments at the site reflect my own questions about how people get into this state in the first place and then stay there. The comment from a Scandinavian about how those nations handle untrustworthy women would undoubtedly send Americans in general and American feminists in particular into fits of outrage, to wit:

I always admire stories like these because they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt no college education can bring a single mom out of poverty.

In Norway and most-other Scandinavia countries, we have found solutions, to these problems.

We mandate that woman moving back home with her parents, and that she remains there until such time society trusts her making wiser decisions. In no circumstances will one leave the parent's home before 26 years of age.

Women like this forfeit their education benefits and most-other courtesies because of the direct harm they caused their neighbors and the crime against humanity, to bring a child into the world under such horrific conditions

We have moved on with oh that poor child and moved directly to punishing its perpetrators.

We still have many children born outside of wedlock, but rarely is one born without strong social networks from grandparents, parents, friends, lovers and most-profusely, mandatory good parenting classes.

Scandinavian has the best worldwide education and social networks on the planet. They did not get that way coddling poor behaviors or biological clocks.
