Anti-Semitism, Anti-Capitalism, Anti-Americanism Posted by Jason Dixon on 5/17, 9:42am
[Editor's note - This was submitted to the article queue by Tom Palmer, but I'm posting it as a news item with Tom's agreement. - Jason] There's an ongoing debate about capitalism in Germany that was sparked by the remarks of Franz Müntefering, chairman of the ruling Social Democratic Party, who called entrepreneurs “locusts" ("Heuschrecken"). Müntefering's union, IG-Metall, then published a magazine cover showing a big-nosed and malicious mosquito wearing a top hat with stars-and-stripes on it (get it?) and the title "Die Aussauger" ("The Bloodsuckers"). I wrote up two short posts on my website, with images, at: http://www.tomgpalmer.com/archives/020927.php and http://www.tomgpalmer.com/archives/021050.php I thought that SOLOHQ readers might be interested, partly because of the interest in capitalism and partly because my comment attracted the usual denunciation of Ayn Rand.
