Atlas Shrugged #33 in Top 40 Books of All-Time in Canada Posted by Tyson Russell on 9/27, 10:34am
So many people like what they read in Ayn Rand's novels but are afraid to admit it. In Canada, there is only a 60% voter turn out. Undoubtedly, as this TOP 40 list would indicate, a large number of those people support of at least agree with the major tenets of laissez-faire capitalism. Any chance a quality, reasoned libertarian party will be setting up shop in Canada any time soon? Hmm... that sounds like a good winter project. In Canada, there is an interesting dynamic. A left-leaning supporter of the Marijuana Party will never admit that the free trade of cannabis can only exist in a laissez-faire environment and a right-leaning fiscal conservative will admit that a laissez-faire economy must inherently allow the free exchange of drugs. But since both these groups find the Liberal Party middle ground to be utterly reprehensible, they share much in common. The major problem is getting these two groups to actually sit down under one roof, make concessions, and find common ground- i.e. laissez-faire. If a quality libertarian party were to emerge I think many, many people will come out the woodwork and a true debate about laissez-faire could begin. Any chance the Libertarianz Party wants to market their constitution? Thank you for your attention, T
