Objectivism

oodkind, Terry
Objectivist and author of the successful Sword of Truth series of fantasy fiction books, Terry Goodkind manages to put Objectivist principles into his stories.  As the series progresses, his main character Richard, becomes more and more explicit with his Objectivist ideas.

The later books are interesting because he's manages with ingenuity to weave his plots around a single, significant idea.  In one book, "The Naked Empire", he creates an entire culture of people who advocate and practice moral relativism.  They practice evasion constantly to keep from making moral judgments.  As their people are subjected to the ravishes of a world where evil exists, Goodkind makes it perfectly clear what refusing to acknowledge evil will lead to, and how tightly people hold on to their mistaken philosophical premises even when disaster is upon them.

And his books are crammed with good ideas seen in practice by his heroes.  Putting these ideas into a story gives you a better understanding of them.  These are books you can read fast for the plot, but you're left thinking about many great ideas afterwards.
