reenspan, Alan
Alan Greenspan is the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve, and was once a part of Ayn Rand's inner circle.  He wrote essays included in Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.  The Chairman of the Federal Reserve is often considered one of the most powerful positions in the world.  During his stint as Reserve chairman, he's been praised as a the hero of the US economy, and villified months later for wrecking it.  He's famous for his line about "irrational exhuberance".

Objectivists don't quite know how to interpret Greenspan.  He did what John Galt wouldn't do.  He took the position of economic dictator.  On the other hand, he has used his position to promote a gold standard and free markets.  Does he really think he's doing a necessary job?  Or is he filling the role so someone worse doesn't do damage?  There's endless speculation on the matter.

You can find out more about him here.
