Capitalism in space! (Well, sort of, at least.)
Private company SpaceX successfully launched its new Falcon 9 rocket today and delivered a dummy payload into orbit. The company hopes to solidify tentative plans with NASA to deliver hardware and perhaps even crew members to the International Space Station (ISS) as a Commercial Orbital Transportation Service (COTS). I witnessed the launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and felt duly impressed. I really hope these guys can do their part to privatize human space flight successfully.
