The sad fact is that fundamentalist religious zealots such as Osama bin Laden, while claiming to practice a religion of peace, will not rest until every last country in the world is an Ayatollah-run dictatorship composed of veiled submissive women, violent bearded men and dead infidels. However, the battle to preserve our “love of life” in the West can and must be won, as it was against Communism and Fascism, by not giving an inch to the anti-life ideology that is shrouded by the terrorists’ political demands. The Non-Art of Objectivism

There has been much criticism, on this website and elsewhere over the years, of the moralizing and cultish behaviour of Objectivists who digest and regurgitate Ayn Rand’s opinions and her philosophical pronouncements. I always believed that this dogmatic adherence to Objectivist doctrine was quite a recent phenomenon, probably encouraged by Ayn Rand herself and continued by her protege Peikoff. However, I’ve had to revise that opinion, because in The Art of Non-Fiction, I found exactly the same type of Objectivist cultish behaviour being criticized by Ayn Rand herself. (Read more...)

"Capitalism" - Is it time for a change?
by Marcus Bachler
Sanction this ArticleEditMark as your favorite article
Capitalism can be made the scapegoat of whatever it is that they happen to hate about the economy at the time. It can stand for corporate corruption and greed, unfair trade with third world nations, excessive profits or the exploitation of workers. Capitalism has become a general smoke-screen for the criticism of avarice and the ultimate in left-wing “woolly” thinking. Is it time for a change? (Read more...)

This “Little Red Cock” still wanted to bake his own bread, and thereby not be accused of Little Red Hen-freeloading. The New Con

I have always assumed that Conservative parties were more the friends of individual liberty, at least in their rhetoric if not in content, than their left-wing counterparts. At least they have always claimed to want to encourage free markets and profits in business, reduce government spending and lower taxes -– and to some extent they still do. Yet lately there has been a shift in this old style rhetoric from Conservative parties in opposition. And I believe that this change has been the result of a shift in strategy of modern day left-wing politics. (Read more...)
