| | Distant from our small families, we spent the evening with friends. When our hostess asked hestitantly if anyone said grace, the guy from the monastery thanked everyone at the table for the food they brought. We all joined in a round of thanks to each other.
I actually worked yesterday morning, picking up a shift from a supervisor who wanted the day off. (If he had worked, he would have gotten time-and-a-half, but the day off cost him a day's pay. Family was more important this year.) Anyway, I was grateful for the opportunity: not only did I get the day's pay, but my last half hour was overtime.
