You want "total passion for the total height"?

Find the Rachmaninoff 3rd recording by Alexis Weissenberg, backed by George Pretre and the Chicago Symphony. They squeeze every last drop of passion out of Rachmaninoff's greatest concerto. It leaves you in another universe. My all-time favorite recording of anything.

Chris, I completely agree with you about Ray Charles' "America the Beautiful." I first heard him sing it at Reagan's second inaguaration, and I wept all the way through it -- then saw Reagan with tears running down his cheeks.

Another volley into the fray...

A progressive rock band from the 90s, Echolyn, has many Ayn Rand themes in their music. Maybe you should give them a try? They're not as melodic as Yes, but I really like them. In particular, this album: http://cdbaby.com/cd/echolyn6 - here is a partial track list from CD 1:
