When I was 12 my parents bought me a membership to the Natural Science Museum.  I took two buses.  The Number 6 let me off in front of the Art Museum and I cut through it on my way to the Natural Science Museum.  Seeking the shortest path through the Art Museum, I found all kinds of art.  Most of it I did not understand.  Some of it I got.  Especially the nudes.  Especially the naked women.

The following Easter Sunday, my aunt and uncle came and got us and the whole family went out to University Circle for the day.  We started with the Art Museum.  About halfway through, my aunt went to turn right and I said, "There's nothing there." and she looked at me and said, "What do you mean by 'nothing/'?"

So...  this past December 30, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary with a trip to the museums.  Most of the Art Museum was closed off for renovations, unfortunately, though they did have all their Moderns on display.

Michael: I look forward to your Atlas Society talk. I think it takes a lot of bravery, honesty, virtue, and confidence -- plus a fair amount of exercise and genetic luck -- to present yourself to the world as you really are, and without hiding behind clothes.

???
Kyrel, you do realize that your post makes it sound as if Michael will not only be discussing nudes, he will be nude while doing it?

(If that's the case, then book my flight now! This is I gotta see! LOL!)

In all seriousness, though, Michael, I'm sure your talk will be wonderful, and I wish you the best.

Erica

I could but I would be concerned that the audience would be checking out the state of my genetic luck instead of the state of the talk.

Joking aside, this talk will be important for people who want to understand how a specific visual art culture, the nude, is preeminent for a flourishing free society. There will be several well-reasoned original thoughts and it will come without dogmatic condemnation i.e. I will respect the delicate balance of art's personal nature with its cultural role.
