The phrase "air locks" should be rendered "sky castles." Very nice.

A garden of neighbors sounds very interesting.  <g>

That meant it appears as an obvious structure when approached from the sea, but as a garden to the neighbors, who only see the top from the street level.

You don't need a translator to understand this subhead:
Ein gigantisches Ego

Link to the original here:
Die Luftschlösser des Frank Lloyd Wright

and yes, Luftschloss (plural Luftschloesser)  LUFT=air or sky as in LOFT and SCHLOSS=keep, castle, or lock as in SLOT.
(The mutation would be "slit slat slot slut"  -- you see how that concept works...)

Once I saw a software-translated menu in which lamb prepared with Menetou-Salon, a local wine, became lamb in the Menetou living room.

My favorite language-barrier story doesn't involve software at all.  I was walking along the sidewalk minding my own business when a man who was evidently not a native English speaker pointed to a sign that said "Cat Hotel" and asked "Is that for real?" (this was LA, where that's not always a safe assumption).
It was indeed, I reassured him.
"What is it?"
"It's a place where people leave their cats when they go on vacation."
"Oh.  I thought maybe you worked there."
