Also of note is how Yaron Brook explained that there are three ways that governments fund growth:

(1) printing money (inflation)
(2) taking on debt
(3) increasing taxes

However, a fourth way would be to start a war and plunder another country's natural resources. Therefore, there are actually four ways to fund the growth of government:

(1) inflation
(2) accrual of debt
(3) increasing taxes
(4) war and plunder

In determining the level of statism in any administration of our government, one may legitimately ask which of these four we are/were employing, and to what extent we are/were employing them. Different administrations can then be ranked on their respective levels of statism.

Ed, I think maybe we're trying "war and plunder," but if we're using it to "fund growth," we sure suck at it!

We are doing the "war" part, but I haven't seen any plunder.

They forgot the basics, as explained by Hagar the Horrible to a novice marauder who returned from Paris with a meager booty - "Pillage then burn! Pillage then burn!"
