| | Before getting Ernest Bramah's The Secret of the League, I read Garet Garrett's The Driver because of a discussion on MSK'S "Objectivist Living" website. In that, Dragonfly cited Jeff Walker's The Ayn Rand Cult and I am almost done with this book now. After laboring through the first 20 pages -- it seemed OK to start, but just bogged down -- I read the two chapters on precursors to Ayn Rand and her works.
One of them was Harriet Martineau. I came across her when researching Herbert Spencer for a class in sociology theory. I missed her importance. Apparently, she outsold Dickens in their time.
I was surprised to discover that Rose Wilder Lane was really the author of the "Little House" books.
