I want to get this book. I am in guarded possession of a 75-page pdf file (thank you, Mike!) which obviously either served as the basis for, or the postscript of, this book.

Thanks, Merlin! I tried to get the picture in there, but the Amazon link automatically filled that field, also, even though the picture did not come across. I have posted Amazon links before...

Ed, what you have is one of the papers that some of the Henrich, et al., team wrote. "The Success of the WEIRD People" is a journal article, available from one of the authors as a PDF. We talked about this before in a Dissent argument on another topic. I included a bibliography of four or five of these papers by Henrich and various associates.

It has come up here on RoR that experiments with infants and children prove that "fairness" is "human nature." In point of fact, those children were largely from the homes of psychology students and others in and around the universities where the research was conducted. And those people are not Earth-normals. As I said, Yanoamo babies are rewarded for striking their fathers. You have to wonder how they would interact with the usual test subjects.

The book is just more of the same, very deep and detailed with variations on the three experiments, Ultimatum, Dictator, and Public Goods. Sometimes the rules had to be changed. These were mostly non-market peoples, so some could not count money, for instance. But they understood "more."
