I believe that I have just figured out who "Evelyn Pickering" really is.

However, in justice and reason and copyright law, I must now await her (sic) confirmation of authorship by secret, private, confidential e-mail, before I feel morally free to reveal her (sic) real name to the rest of the Known Universe.

I'm recommending Chris to not do what she did. Don't become your enemy.

I'd say to Chris that I said somewhere else (if he doesn't know this already, but I think he does):

Just having intelligence and tools means nothing if it's (intelligence, tools, and usage) not adaptive, dynamic, wise, complex, wide-ranging, contextually relevant, consistent, self-acknowledged, self-correcting, self-ruled, and deep.

I don't worry about him. I've read his blog comments. I think he's fine and can take of himself.

that all kind of moves can be interpreted as Chris' is wrong.

That's true. In that situation, it is not Chris that's the problem. He'll know this, and if I read him correctly, he'll move on. And chances are, he is the kind of person that will irk some people because of the nature of his mind, of his approach, and of his interests. I understand that.

But this can be taken another way: Chris, himself, has all kinds of tools and moves himself. I do not see him as "nailed"; he is as easy to nail as I am. If he plays his library (his cards) and moves creatively, adaptively, dynamically, dimensionally, nonlinearly-- he can avoid harm, deflect, neutralize, etc. A battering ram, no matter how powerful, can only move limitedly. What if you flew over the battering ram and landed behind your enemy?

Michael,
Roger does have a reputation, doesn't he?? *wink, wink*
I could post his/her planned comment, which he/she sent to me (they also said it was okay):
_______________________________________

"Teresa, what do you mean funny? Do I look funny to you? I make you laugh, I'm here to amuse you? What do you mean, funny--funny how?

This is a very serious issue, very serious. We are dealing here with two women, Diana Hsieh and Deena Hshiehster, who have both been wronged according to them by two men, Chris Sciabarra and Chris Scabrous, men who have baldly not said everything in public that they have said in private. There are some very ominous parallels in the two cases.

We must approach all this not with ill-considered merriment, but with the severest rational caution and investigatory enterprise. I don't want anybody to be going trollishly off-topic here, talking about funny and whatnot. I further aver that none of us should leap to any transparently obvious conclusions about the matter. To be fair to the parties involved, we should all take a course of postgraduate work in all the spittle-laden, nit-picking accusations of these two gals before daring to say two cents worth about the propriety of their turpitudinous tattling. Hence my own scrupulous agnosticism for the moment.

Ultimately, I ask: Why should any of us waste another instant on the minutiae of our own lives when we could be poring over these enthralling memoranda with microscope, disinfectant, bell, book and candle? Be objective, people!"

No, it's true, Phil. "Evelyn" was put on moderation.

If it IS Linz, that just makes it all the funnier!  I never would have guested that one.

I talked to Linz and he said it wasn't him ...

:-/

This -- as long as Linz isn't lying, and I don't think he is -- makes Newberry in this instance, more right than me (and that's disheartening) ...

:-(

I mean, I knew he could paint better, beat the hell out of me in tennis, and was better at being a 'mean person' than I am -- but now this???

Breaking silence for just a moment to weigh in on this great mystery....sorry to disappoint Michael N., and Ed Thompson please take heart, for I am not Evelyn Z. Pickering. Nor am I Deena Shsiester, for that matter. My own invented (but not hidden behind) names to satirize LP and DS (for those who don't keep up with our doings over on the much-maligned Objectivist Living website) are Dizzy Vertigo and Dyin' O'Shame, the neo-Attilla and neo-Witch Doctor (Taliban variety) of the ARIan Race, respectively.

My last -- and also last -- pseudonym employed on RoR or anywhere else is "Artemis Kerridge" (Artemis = Diana and Kerridge = Carriage, of which a shay = Hsieh is one kind). I almost lost one of my best friends with that little masquerade, so I won't be doing anything of the kind again soon. (Although I think my own behavior was relatively benign, I have learned my lesson, and I really don't want to end up alone and lonely, like Dizzy and Dyin' surely will as a result of their own anti-social behaviors.)

So, back to the speculation...

Just for the record, Evelyn Z. Pickering ain't me either.

(I made a choice never to use a pseudonym on an Objectivist board when I started posting regularly a year and a half ago. But I would like to shake her hand.)

Hi Michael

Nice to hear from you.

That was quite a speculation you made about the Solo Bashin' Controversy.  I think there must be a novel in there.  haha

I received a notice from     www.humancondition.info     yesterday, reporting that the expanded version of Jeremy Griffith's essay,  The Great Exodus has been posted on their site.  I don't know if you took the time to read the original one or not; but since they found the Objectivist crowd from RoR visiting their site, Griffith's article seems to me to have taken quite a different turn.  I have been doing some thinking on this idea as well; and  have drawn some astonishing  (to me) conclusions.

You may know that I have been trying to persuade Objectivists here to join me in this exploration; but maintaining the status quo, seems to be the main object for those who post on RoR . Even from my limited studies of Ayn Rand, I don't conclude that this is what she would have wanted.  I feel very much a kindred spirit with her earlier self (before she had her midlife crisis and took up with Nathaniel Branden)  and I think that my leap of imagination has created a new convergence of Objectivism, with the Roots of Empathy methodology of using infants to rehabilitate bullies.

Don't you think that if someone dropped a newborn onto Dizzy's doorstep he would become a changed man?   This could become your new speculative essay, Michael.  It's time to start rehabilitating him and Dinah, don't you think?   I'm ROTFLMHO

If you have the time or the interest in discussing this with me, or with pursuing this line of thinking on Objectivist Living, I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you, offline.  Although I like the unique atmosphere that you are nurturing on OL, I'm not up to writing polemics, I'm not a scholar; and I have other responsibilities that I have undertaken. I am only interested in having these notions fleshed out seriously.  If you are intrigued by any of this Michael, please let me know.

Kind Regards to you and Kat
Sharon
I just had a devilish idea to suggest that someone send a Roots of Empathy team to SB

Stay tuned: someday soon I may publish the private e-mails and correspondence that convince me I'm right.

Robert,

What I remember poetry-wise from Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School was R.D. in the hot tub with a bevy of beauties asking them to "straighten out his Longfellow".
