From Vladimir's tone I felt pretty sure he thought communism was successful to some degree, and certainly his new society expunges some of the old communist ideas.
I wished him to unequivocally show his view, but that has not been accomplished. I was particularly interested in any response to my cold mention of 'controlling' the members of a commusist society, as that is one of the prime reasons communism is regarded bad.
Certainly, on a Objectivist site, any such discussion debating individuality seems worthwhile to induce.
I was pushing the subject, and, as was correctly stated, I do think there is some worth in discussing topics such as these.
In any theory, we shouldn't limit ourselves to only doing research into those things that favour our theory, we must actively research other opinions that abound, as often these other opinions will help clarify the justification for our theory.
If there is any chance that such a Technate society might come into being in the future, there is good reason to discuss it now.
Especially since Vladimir is such a fan of Soviet policy, why waste such a golden opportunity to learn more about this vastly different train of thought. Wanting to know more doesn't have to imply doubt in our own conviction, but even if it does, so what? Exploring this alternate path will most likely provide us with more knowledge, and perhaps more justification/understanding of our own theory.
Holding an individualist philosophy shouldn't prevent us from wanting to understand other philosophies.
Vladimir, I truly am interested to know your position on this point. In such a society, how do you propose to ensure that the individuals conform?
Another point I want to bring up is that very often experience comes from trying things ourselves, under our own guidance, etc. In a society as your proposed one, where individuals are seen as idea providers, how would you improve the general value of ideas produced? In other words, how do you increase the experience of the individuals involved.
Are certain individuals trained/bred for certain vital tasks?
