Murugan Koliar,

Hello, I am Dean, one of the people from meetup.com that messaged you.

In Post 16 you wrote: "Ayn Rand wrote in Atlas Shrugged that John Galt is Prometheus."

As far as I know, this is false. If anything, she might have said that "John Galt is like Prometheus", but not "is Prometheus". Please refer me to the page where she says what you claim.

Thanks,
Dean

Murugan Koliar,

Reality check: There is no non-mystical evidence that there is life beyond death. Why do you have faith in life beyond death?

There is a passage in Atlas Shrugged in which Francisco is asked, by Dagny I believe, who John Galt is. Francisco says (and I'm quoting approximately, from memory):

"John Galt is the Prometheus who changed his mind. After centuries of being torn by vultures, he withdrew his mind -- until the day when men withdraw their vultures."

In other words, this is purely a metaphorical allusion. It is not meant literally, of course. The fictional character of John Galt is meant to be John Galt -- and only analogous to the mythical character of Prometheus. Rand meant that both were similar in that they represented human reason, exploited by others.

"Michael is stalking me..don't lump me in the category of polluting every thread" [Shayne]

Well, but if so, why rise to the bait each time?

So let me get this straight. You don't know whether or not he's starting it, but you do know that I take the bait every time he does?

I think you just out-witted yourself. Which perhaps wasn't a very hard thing to do.

LOL.

See why I can't resist, Phil?

But God knows I am trying. All this started when I read him lecturing Luke on etiquette. I couldn't stop laughing...

Kat curiously quizzed:
What's wrong with lecturing Luke on etiquette?
It bears a strong similarity to praying for me -- a complete waste of time.

Shayne, do you not understand that "rising to the bait" means continuing to respond and have the last word and prolonging a silly flame war...which lowers yourself, bores the readers, and takes focus away from higher level more philosophical issues...

...REGARDLESS of who started it?

Note, Michael, this criticism also applies to you: You are to blame in this sixth grade nonsense as well!

It is beneath both of you otherwise intelligent men.

GROW UP.

Philip,

As to thine own widsom-ripened command:
GROW UP.
Er... ahem...

... you talkin' sense of life or are you talkin' etiquette?

Who said you could play anyway?

Hello Everybody,
Who is the real life Roark and Galt?

Who is the man of the highest mind or intelligence level?

Was Ayn writing about an alien creature?

Is it true that the Ayn readers still do not know about the axiom that
existence exists and that A is A!

Are you people unhappy with your present life so that you fear coming
back on this earth [if your genes ever leave the earth in the first place!]

Murugan Koliar:

If you have something to say, say it.  A bunch of questions like that is not going to pique anyone's curiosity here.  Just start a new thread and please speak plainly.  Otherwise, just don't speak.

Philip:

 - I don't think Michael intends it as "bait"; even though he sort of acts like a troll I doubt that he is one.

 - Yes, I get your point, the point you don't get is that it's *my* call on when I do and don't respond to him. I don't more often than I do, so I see your post as little more than a flame of me and butting into my business. Ergo my rudeness.

Jason, if I could bottle Chris's shameless self promotion, I'd be a millionaire. I consider myself lucky if I absorb a tenth of that. :)
