This thing's a CAT 5, and will only downgrade to a 4 when it hits landfall at 7:00 am tomorrow.

Who do we know in New Orleans?  Hope they aren't in the superdome, it's only rated for 135 mph winds.

Below is the location of the war photographer who took the Free Rad pictures of me (Jim Bartlett).  Sans Iraq he chases storms, and has holed up in Mobile, AL with weather gages and live internet streaming video.  Details on ukweatherworld.co.uk.

Very worried at destruction that will occur.

Best regards to all,

Julia

With winds at 175 now, destruction is understatement...

I think I'd rather run beside the cars on the interstate with my thumb in the air then put myself in that stadium. Could you imagine placing yourself in a place packed with scared humans? Especially after a few days to a week of flooding?

Boy... well... I'm not sure what this storm will do. But I hope it won't be too bad.

If that stadium goes, there could be worse than the WTC...

Run, damn'it, run!

Just 10 feet above sea level is 10 times better than anything below sea level.

I have been to New Orleans many times and I "know" it is an indefensible position against any rising water.

Run now, live, and rebuild later. Please!

The Governor announced yesterday that there will be parts of LA without power for several months - due to actual grid compromise, not just downed powerlines.

What a relief overall, though, it could have been way worse.
