Hello. I am at Otago University in New Zealand. I am new(ish) to objectivism - although I have read Rand work on and off for years now.

Is there anyone on Otago campus here?

Bernard Darnton was - he's now the leader of the Libertarianz

I have family (cousins & uncles) in Otago (McAndrews Bay, Maori Hill, Signal Hill, Tairei - no Objectivists though).
I am living in Sydney now but will get in touch next time I fly into Dunedin to see them.

Tell me - what's someone who describes himself as an Objectivist doing listing Theologist as his career?
Your profile looks like that of someone who I worked with promoting VSM. You wouldn't know the Flannagans, would you?

Pretty sure not. You could be the first to start something up.

Watch out for those Flannagans. Trouble.

Hi Andrew.

People study theology for many reasons. Like it or not a lot of our society is built upon the foundations of a certain culture. A lot of peoples psychology is strongly influenced by theological ideas. This is what I study.

Is it a worthy topic for an objectivist? I think any topic can be if it is approached in the right way.

I have had some interaction with the Flannigans. I have known them both for many years - in fact since high school. I have not however worked with him in any political campaigns - just socially.

Funnily enough I am in Sydney myself until next monday when I go back to continue my studies.

I think we may have met briefly in Auckland at a student council meeting.

M.

Rick. Trouble indeed.

I have managed to tangle with both the christian right and the loony lefty types since I got onto campus a year ago.

That is why I wondered if there were any sane people around!

Mate of mine Mike Heine is the go-to guy for Otago libertarianism. Go visit him.

Yeah, loony Christian trouble, you said it.

Theology's a worthy study, good on ya. Hope to see you about.

Max,

check your RoRmail. I have sent my contact details so we can meet up here in Sydney later this week.
Don't use my profile email address as it is not checked quite so often/easily and gets a lot of spam.

AB.
