The point about Randall Wallace is not that he's a devout Christian, but rather that he is an excellent screenwriter. Among other things, he wrote the screenplay for "Braveheart."
Miss Rand was as non-Christian as one can be, yet her screenplay of her own novel, "The Fountainhead," was not especially great. Novels and screenplays are two entirely different forms (think "symphony vs. string quartet"); ability in the former has little to do with ability in the latter.
The writer and the director will make or break this movie; not this or that actor in a leading role.
