Those of you using Photobucket for your articles will want to know that the company now wants $399.99 per year to continue hosting your photos.

Not to worry, just use promotion code "summerfun" to reduce the cost to $360!

Prepare for many broken photo links on this site.

The Internet is a challenge for business models. It appears that PhotoBucket believes that they have built enough of a potential market that they can finally make money.  I point out that Amazon has never made a profit.  About 25 years ago, I served twice on the the board of the East Lansing Food Co-Operative, ELFCO.  I chose the Finance committee for my assignment and I was dismayed by the Profit and Loss Statement.  "How do we stay in business?" I asked.  The accountant replied, "A positive cash flow covers a lot of sins."  So, I trust that Photobucket will be a resource for professionals who can justify the expense of whatever superior service Photobucket is going to offer.  (We can only hope...)

Marotta: I point out that Amazon has never made a profit.

That is false. Amazon has made a profit 8 of the last 10 years. Link. You may see only 5 years; as a subscriber I can see 10.

Thanks, Merlin. Sorry for the delay, but I take your posts as being informed and informative. I stand by the common wisdom, however, As far as I can tell, Amazon's retail operations have been propped up by their AWS web services.  And that is at best.  I put "Amazon never m..." into Google and the search engine finished the phrase for me. That's the first indication.  I then faced the first page of links, pro and con. BusinessInsider, Wired, Forbes, Investopedia, and others either say why Amazon has made money or excuse the fact that it has not. Whether they make an honest dollar or just cook the books, I am not invested. I have no dog in this hunt.  As I said, a positive cash flow covers a lot of sins.

The returns are very different for Google searches for Amazon has never made a profit in quotes versus w/o quotes. BusinessInsider, Wired, Forbes, Investopedia were not among the returns when I entered the phrase in quotes. Moreover, the ones that did appear claimed the phrase wasn't true, unless dated many years ago, like 2001. BusinessInsider, Wired, Forbes, Investopedia were among the returns when I entered the phrase w/o quotes. Moreover, they even denied the phrase was true or wholly true, to wit:

Wired: "Whoa, Amazon Isn’t Just Making Money. It’s Making More Than Ever."

Investopedia: "Alright, technically the title’s not all true. The company made money last year, lost it the previous year, and made it the year before that."
