| | On the subject of Eastern philosophy, during our recent trip to Japan, at one point, my husband suffered the effects of Buddhist Overload. We took a taxi tour with an English-speaking guide, who tried to explain some of the symbolism used in temples, such the meaning of the different hand positions of the Buddhas.
That night, my husband got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and took so long to return that I had forgotten he was in there.
I asked him if he was OK, and he said that he had fallen asleep on the toilet. He said, verbatim, "I dreamt that there were many ways to exit the bathroom, each with different symbolism. It was touch-and-go there for a while."
