Jeff,

This joke might be improved if, instead of speaking Spanish, teachers begin to speak Chinese. The problem, though, is that Spanish is so much more understood on a certain level than Chinese by most non-Chinese folks (making it a more intuitive punchline). That's what would prevent the folks from seeing the bigger joke that -- as we are losing whatever capacity we have left to independently think and reason (like in Orwell's 1984) -- that it'll be the communist Chinese who will take over this country.

Perhaps this should merely be added at the end -- after we get so "culturally sensitive" that we force kids to try to learn their math in a language foreign to them in the first place -- that then, when we've reached that low, then the Chinese will come for us. None of this punchline has to do with the Chinese being good at math, but that angle also exists. I wonder if being good at math helps them to survive as communists. Now, I'm rambling on.

Disclaimer:
No actual Chinese persons were harmed during the making of this post.

;-)

Actually, tho, many of the places [around here anyway] which used to deal in Spanish as a secondary have shifted to English period... tho not know how it is out in the western states... seems most of the secondary generation know English, and the Spanish is more confined to the old generations...

As for Chinese, I think ye shortsighted on that, just as were many back in the 60's and 70's taking up Russian...

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Although, Jeff, while you do make a good point, I can't help but to think about whether it could have been worded just a little bit better.

I'm thinking about the part where you say "Let it go man!" -- and it's a really good point, in-and-of-itself (I'll grant you that much). But there's no comma in your command (and "man" isn't capitalized). If I -- now stepping into your shoes and taking your point of view on the matter -- if I were to post that command to myself (or, hypothetically, to you), I'd do it thusly:

"Let it go, Man!"

Anyway, that's just my two cents ...

Back to your plagiarizing, extra-realm of the living ways, Ed?

The word is "so" not "thusly."
