| | Thanks for the link! I noticed a fair number of recent comments on the NY Times's "Discuss the Series" forum that expressed similar sentiments.
I think one of the more valuable parts of the special thus far is the Income Mobility graphic, which supports Frazier's statement more than that of the authors. One of the more sickening is the woman who commented, "I think the American dream is to help people."
Nevertheless, I'm curious to see if there will be any (non-anecdotal) evidence presented that indicates the existence of hurdles we don't usually think of. It's a legitimate question ("To what extent does the current system fulfill the potential we see in it?"), and it's a shame that those crafting the series seem to by trying to produce the answer they want from data that doesn't necessarily support it.
