Tony Blair ist not the real hero. Ther heros are those people who helped retrieving the bodies and giving first aid to the people that needed it.

I just want to point here: http://www.hnn.us/blogs/entries/12955.html

Tony Blair often misses the important points about this.

We have to look at this with reason and clarity and I hope this will prevail and not just render another unnecessary war against some "terrorist-harboring country". There are too many fall-backs for those terrorists, so that you can't combat them with conventional weapons. As Chris summarized apropriately, this is a clash of cultures and only our example can win us this war!

And Julia, this is has nothing to do with "weakling", it is about rational planning, strategy and realistic analysis of military options. If there were a country that could be attacked, all good, go make it suffer, but there isn't one single country. And to devestate the lives of many innocent to find "some" terrorist is just not going to work. And besides, if you wanna fight this war, then join the army and do it.
I have seen too much of this useless blood-shed. It is like trying to hunt ants with billiard-balls. It is useless, you won't win this way.

Hello UK SOLOists,

Glad to hear you are all well. I'll be over in the UK from the 12th to the 20th. Not sure if I'll have a moment to get into London, but if I can I'll buy you all a drink!

Ethan

By amazing coincidence Rudolph Giuliani was in London today, and not too far from one of the tube stations where a bomb went off.

I just saw him interviewed on the news, his words were brilliant as always.

Kudos to our British participants on their and their country's "stiff upper lip," and getting the underground running again by afternoon, and riding it. I've been told, by someone who was there the last time London was under attack, that their customary salutation in those days was, "Keep your pecker up!" I can't think of anything more appropriate to say now.

My heart goes out to the people of Britain. Nobody f**ks with my sister country and gets away with it.

Hmm. Perhaps it was "dander" rather than "pecker". You certainly wouldn't say "keep your pecker up" these days, not unless you were selling viagra perhaps :-)

But I certainly agree with the intended sentiment. Londoners will remain stoic in the face of this.

Ethan, I'll private you my number, and I'll see if a few of us can meet up for that drink.

I love London. While there can only be one New York there really is only one London. 9 million people from every corner of the planet, working to achieve their dreams. Different languages, food, theatre, music and mushy peas. It is not an easy life in London but you learn to survive here and the murderous acts of today will not change the mode of thinking of many Londoners.

Tomorrow morning I will be swiping my travelcard at the local Tube station and travelling to Central London alongside up to 3 million other Londoners I guess. Yes, there may be a bit of a scrum to get into a carriage but we will fit in. Londoners kept that stiff upper lip in the face of the Blitz over 50 years ago, tomorrow will be no different.

And if anyone has the technical knowledge to attach the Union Jack flag to this thread with the music of "Land of Hope and Glory" as a tribute to British resilience then I would indeed be most grateful.

Julian

This attack is truly terrible, and ought to embolden freedom fighters on both sides of the Pond.

I am very relieved to hear everyone (from SOLO) was okay. I was getting worried reading the posts ... no word from Marcus ... still no word ... haven't been able to reach him ... (that scared the hell out of me!).

Thanks Duncan.

I especially love the sentiment in the chorus of "Rule Britannia".

[Union-Jack]

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
We never, never, never shall be slaves.

Altho' there's much blame to go around here, in the end, the ambitious and energetic Iranian and Saudi dictators -- so hated by their citizens -- probably bear the most responsibility for this atrocity. They should be immediately and brutally attacked. After all, they are the ones who most create, worldwide, the hateful jihadist atmosphere and fund the evil islamicist ideology.

The noble British Lion needs to roar in outrage. It needs to horrifically maul the governmental, political, religious, military and police leaders of many of these miserable radical Islamic countries. Now is not the time for impotent, useless, sissified, counterproductive statements of resolve or confidence. Now is the time for action and revenge. Now is the time for many Moslems to die.

Replace "Moslems" with terrorists and you won't hear a peep out of me.

I'm glad to hear that everyone I've come to know here on SOLO are ok. Marcus, you had me worried! : )

I want Justice! My heart cries out for those who've been hurt or killed. I look forward to finding out who has done this, and I hope we prevent these murderers from causing more destruction.

Replace "many Moslems" with "all terrorists," and you'll hear a rousing "right on!" out of me. :-)

I saw it on the news yesterday, then kept watching CNN midnight. Anger, sheer anger is the word that describes my sentiments.

It Europe learns we are in a state of war, islam fundamentalists against the free world. We have to work together to kill those b***ds. Up until now European countries have been very permissive, anything goes as long as the islamic groups don't make trouble in your country. So they come to one capital to prepare bombings in another. Attack on one European city should be considered as an attack ont the whole of Europe, all 25 states of them.

It is time those "moderate muslims" made up their mind, with allah or the free world? Do they just issue a wishy-washy communication about peace and all religions living as one in London or do they actively fight the cancer in their community?
