I get the impression that the majority of immigrants in the UK are indeed proud of this country. In fact, Muslims in this country went so far as to claim that those that carried out the attacks could not possibly be Muslim.
I would say that in the US there is just as much, if not more, racial tension. For example, the Rodney King verdict inspired riots and fear over potential riots following the Jackson verdict just this year.
The 911 terrorists also lived for some time in the US before carrying out their attacks. Indeed in NY, authorities are also worried that they could face similar attacks as London.
