Oh, so thats why 8,000 people died when that other catagory four hurricane hit Galveston in 1900.  Stupid me, blaming hurricanes on natural causes and all.

Don't forget, Hurricanes get into existence by warming water and thus warming the air above. However, if the science were so easy, why couldn't they predict the Hurricane?
Why can't they even predict cloud movement?
Why can't they lead Hurricanes by (f.e.) burning a lot of wood in Texas, thus creating a pull from the ocean to the land?

It's because science isn't that easy and climate science especially.
And this is why they can't tackle global warming. It isn't solvable in easy politician terms.

But it is the only "real" thing that distinguishes Democrats from Republicans (as you see, the Bushies can be big spenders, too). Being an environmentalist agent is the only emotional appeal a Democrat can have these days.

Max,

"Being an environmentalist agent is the only emotional appeal a Democrat can have these days."

Yeah, and they seem to be the source of all the hot air too!

Silly Max, we can't predict the hurricanes because Bush has a hurricane detection jammer built into the hurricanes when he makes them. Pfft, I can't believe you didn't know that.

"In 1998, Republican icon Pat Robertson warned that hurricanes were likely to hit communities that offended God. Perhaps it was Barbour’s memo that caused Katrina, at the last moment, to spare New Orleans and save its worst flailings for the Mississippi coast."

I am sure New Orleans residents are relieved to hear they were spared.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Mommy, please turn down the Sun! It's too hot! Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Sorry about that. I was just pretending to be a liberal freaked out over climate change. I won't deny that the climate's been changing, but I think that the people who blame human industry are smoking crack. The climate's been changing for billions of years, the Sun itself fluctuates (it has more sunspots in some years than in others) and probably throws off more heat in some years than it does in others, yet the anti-humans insist on ignoring the context of the vast universe in which we exist.
