| | Frankly, I prefer knowing that what I buy is the real thing not an a la mode clone, that may or may not resemble the original. What would happen to my favorite Cotes du Rhone, if they were simply the same varietal grapes blended and grown elsewhere? The soil and the ambient climate contribute to the subtleties of taste and bouquet. I also feel this way about Westphalisher Schinken, Proscutto, Champagne, Provolone, Parmigiano-Reggianno, Tilsiter, Beluga, Maine Lobster and Kolbe beef, among other things glorious.
