|Ed and Robert, normally I would think that mass distributing free copies of a small circulation intellectual magazine would result in too little "buzz" and new subscriptions to be worth the considerable expense. But imagine this magazine sitting in the student union or seen on college campuses. This cover can't be ignored by anyone who sees it. Mailings to newspaper and magazine editors and bloggers [both left and right!...the lefties one would hope to provoke] would be expensive, but in terms of bang for the buck this is potentially a "breakout" cover that no one else would do, that is timely, dramatic, bespeaks courage and principle, and will be hard to ignore...|
...just a thought.
...Further brainstorming: Even just reprinting as a pamphlet copies of the cover and condensation of lead article (much cheaper to mass produce, as in the case of ISIL's single sheet, reduced print pamphlets which it has offset prints flimsy over a decade or two - million at pennies per copy). Single sheets in the tri-fold ISIL format are very effecitve, easy to carry always, and they give away at every event. Other than op eds, Oists always seem to want to write *long* and then sell everything for a high price. Pamphleteering works historically. Especially if you have a striking cover.
