Thanks for the link. If there will be a good way to recharge my car, I think the next car I buy will be an electric. I'd really like to be able to silently beat people off the line at traffic lights : ).

I think its hilarious how they decided to go completely away from electric motor due to poor energy/weight ratio of the batteries. Which makes it quite apparent that any hybrid vehicle made today would be more efficient if the electric motor was removed and they just burned gas. :)

The Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf are ready for the road.
Nissan has cut off the orders for Leaf after receiving 20,000 to get real road experiences before the next batch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ed, your questions and your misconceptions about the propulsion, in #31, have been addressed in earlier links within this thread. I'll stop now with posts at RoR on technological advances.
My tax dollars help pay for the Volt and I feel cheated. I was promised by Uncle Sam that it'd be all-electric (not just another hybrid gas-electric car).
Does anyone know the range of a Volt? Can it go for 300 miles (before refuel/recharge) like some gasoline-powered cars can?
Per Wikipedia 350 miles with a fully charged battery and a full gas tank.
that means 50 miles on the battery and 300 on the gas, right? ;-)
Yep,
It's primarily a gas-powered car, with augmented range due to a small battery. Think of the battery like a reserve gas tank. To be fair, you can flip a switch and make it run "all-electric" for short trips.
