Manfred,

There are many good points in this article. I read it when it was first posted on George Reisman's blog. However, it is very much "preaching to the choir", in my opinion. Statements like "The Dark Side's resentment of Capitalism is unrelenting" may be true and appeal to you and I but is not a compelling statement to put in front of someone who is riding the fence. There are many other examples in the article.

Mike: You're fully right, but it's always the same old story: you have to start somewhere, but where? So you start "preaching" to the choir, expecting that the voice may also reach "beyond the church" so to speak. And, as a matter of fact, it really works, though, unfortunately very slowly. I know of a lot of fine defenders of Capitalism and even Objectivism who started being socialists, even communists (David Horowitz is such a case, as I read in his book "Radical Son"... and these "converts" then become even fiercer than those that were on the right track from the very beginning).

Allow me to tell you a short personal story. As you know, I publish at RoR an article of mine from time to time. By the time RoR published my book "Ayn Rand, I and the Universe" I caught the idea of sending a message about it to all kind of possibly interested institutions, so I looked it up in the Internet and assembled a list of some 500 e-mail addresses that, since then. receive my messages. Well, some asked me to stop the nuisance, others were never reached because of Server rejection, etc. But there are still some 300 on which I "pound" ;-). One of them is a notorius French communist - Michel Onfray - who wrote a magnificent book in favor of atheism (if you just forget his not very frequent hints in favor of the Red Flag) - and, Oh, Wonder! - he NEVER rejected my news. He even probably reads my articles and, who knows, he might still change his mind (after all, Yves Montand, a close friend of Krushchev, did and Horowitz had to have had some contact with a Capitalist-mind to change too, as well as Peter Berger, etc.). We never know WHERE the next one will be, whom "the far drums" will call, but call they will, and all we can do is spreading and spreading and spreading what that great and, unfortunately, already dead women Bea Hessen (the wife of Robert Hessen, of whom she told me that he also started rather on the "left" side) called "The Good News".

So, Mike, let's keep on going with our efforts. The most amazing surprises expect us in our future!
