American Daood "David Coleman Headley" Gilani Charged in Mumbai Terror Attacks

http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/12/07/american-charged-in-mumbai-terror-attacks/

A Chicago man who was arrested in October for allegedly planning terrorist attacks against a Danish newspaper has now been charged for his alleged role in the Mumbai terrorist attacks that happened a year earlier, in Nov. 2008, and claimed the lives of nearly 170 people.

David Coleman Headley, 49, was charged in a 12-count criminal information with six counts of conspiracy to bomb public places in India, to murder and maim people in India and Denmark, to provide material support to foreign terrorist plots and another offenses.

According to federal officials, in 2005 members of Lashkar directed Headley to go to India to perform surveillance of targets there. At the time, Headley's name was Daood Gilani, but the next year he changed his name to David Headley, so he could "present himself in India as an American who was neither Muslim nor Pakistani," according to authorities.

Headley's father was a Pakistani diplomat, and his mother was from Philadelphia. The family temporarily lived in Pakistan, before Headley and his mother returned to Philadelphia, where Headley ran a restaurant for some time.

Waiting in Vain for the Islamic Reformation

http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time.com/2009/12/16/waiting-in-vain-for-the-islamic-reformation/

Like Friedman, I was once an optimist for the cause of moderate Muslims as well. No longer. Nearly four years ago I wrote a column similar to the one Friedman wrote today, calling on moderate Muslims to step up and reclaim the mantle of Islam as a religion of peace and tolerance.

Note to Tom: don't hold your breath. We're now eight years removed from 9/11, and the only thing the last 3,016 days have taught us is that there is no Islamic reformation coming any time soon, no budding civil war from which moderate Islam will emerge victorious.

Runaway Christian Convert Not Required to Meet With Parents, Judge Rules

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,580954,00.html?test=latestnews

"COLUMBUS, Ohio — A judge has ruled that a runaway Christian convert is not required to attend face-to-face meetings with her Muslim parents as part of a possible reconciliation plan.

"Rifqa Bary ran away to Florida last summer saying she fears her father would harm or kill her for leaving Islam."

Score one for common sense!

Detroit terror attack: profile of Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/terrorism-in-the-uk/6896128/Detroit-terror-attack-profile-of-Umar-Farouk-Abdul-Mutallab.html

A family friend said Mutallab had made two trips to Yemen for short Arabic and Islamic courses.

Fabrizio Cavallo Marincola, a 22-year-old mechanical engineering student at University College, who studied with Mutallab said. "We worked on projects together.

"He always did the bare minimum of work and would just show up to classes. When we were studying, he always would go off to pray.

"He was pretty quiet and didn't socialize much or have a girlfriend that I knew of.

Yes, yes, and now an outfit for Arab/American relations here is holding a press conference today to "condemn" the attempt, and (of course) to reiterate it's opposition to "racial and religious profiling."

I'm thinking the conference will have much more to do with the later than the former.

The accused man, now held in a federal prison, is claiming "more attacks are on the way." All the facilitators of cultural "relations" can worry about is profiling.

I'm wondering why HLS doesn't make use of more bomb sniffing dogs on international flights?

Apparently, as per NBC last night, because "some people are scared of dogs". Therefore they only use dogs, so far, on baggage. Another problem mentioned though, is a shortage of trained dogs to go around.

Considering the latest attempt was an "underwear bomb" (and I thought the "shoe" bomb sounded like something out of 'Get Smart'), while I have no objections to dogs, I can easily imagine some people might feel embarrassed having a german shepherd sniffing their crotch in public.

And I certainly wouldn't envy the poor dog...

: )

Don't worry, Jay. Dogs like to sniff crotches.

Our real problem isn't finding the perfect screening process for airlines. It is stopping the funding, training, and harboring of Jihadists.

Lying to ourselves

Ralph Peters

On Christmas Day, an Islamist fanatic tried to blow up an airplane whose passengers were mostly Christians. And we helped.

Our government gets no thanks for preventing a tragedy. Only the bomber's ineptitude preserved the lives of nearly 300 innocents.

How did we help Umar Abdulmutallab, a wealthy Muslim university graduate who decided that Allah wanted him to slaughter Christians on their most joyous holiday?

By continuing to lie to ourselves. Although willing -- at last -- to briefly use the word "terror," yesterday President Obama still refused to make a connection between the action, the date and Islam.

Abdulmuttalab: Chose Christmas for a reason.

Was it just a ticketing accident that led to a bombing attempt on Christmas? Was it all about blackout dates and frequent-flyer miles?

It wasn't. You know it. And I know it. But our government refuses to know it. Despite vast databases crammed with evidence, our leaders -- of both parties -- still refuse to connect Islamist terrorism with Islam.

Our insistence that "Islam's a religion of peace" would have been cold comfort to the family members of those passengers had the bomb detonated as planned.

Abdulmutallab's own father warned our diplomats that his son had been infected by Islamist extremism. Our diplomats did nothing. Why? Because (despite a series of embassy bombings) the State Department dreads linking terrorism to Islam.

Contrast our political correctness with Abdulmutallab's choice of Christmas for his intended massacre. Our troops stand down on Muslim holidays. A captive terrorist merely has to claim that a soldier dog-eared a Koran, and it's courts-martial all around.

We proclaim that the terrorists "don't represent Islam." OK, whom do they represent? The Franciscans? We don't get to decide what's Islam and what isn't. Muslims do. And far too many of them approve of violent jihad.

Wait, I thought once Barrack Obama was elected they'd all start to love us? I guess appeasement doesn't work.

So the reason they don't use more dogs is because they've never heard of muzzles?  Idiots will fly at 20,000 in the air, but they're afraid of a trained, muzzled dog. Dogs trained to sit down and whine if they find something. How scary.

These idiots can come up with goofy x-ray machines that see your underwear, and "air sniffing" machines that blow air at you, but they can't spend 100.00 on a large wire mesh crate to hold a trained dog and its handler to check passengers before they board. Geniuses.

Government is about to impose laws mandating positive actions from the people, the likes of which we haven't seen since the implementation of income tax, and they're still 100% clueless about protecting rights. Great.  It's obvious this administration has zero interest in protecting we citizens. None. All Obama cares about is how best to control the people, not protect them. Any excuse to compel the people, but not to protect them. He's a disgrace.

I'm thinking of how Obama might be able to blame Bush for this. I'm sure he'll think of something.

LOL, well the congressional democrats already are. Blaming Republicans for "holding up" Obama's TSA nominee, which he never even made till September, 9 months into his term. If finding a head for the TSA was so damn important and if that's what was needed to prevent this terrorist attack, he wouldn't have waited 9 months to do it.

Dogs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_and_animals#Dogs

The majority of both Sunni and Shi'a Muslim jurists consider dogs to be ritually unclean, though jurists from the Sunni Maliki school disagree.[25]

Muslims generally cast dogs in a negative light because of their ritual impurity.

Muhammad didn't like dogs according to Sunni tradition, and most practicing Muslims do not have dogs as pets.[14] It is said that angels do not enter a house which contains a dog.

According to a generally unaccepted Sunni tradition attributed to Muhammad, black dogs are evil, or even devils, in animal form. This report reflects the pre-Islamic Arab mythology and the vast majority of Ulema (Muslim jurists) viewed it to be falsely attributed to Muhammad.[25]

Another Sunni tradition attributed to Muhammad commands Muslims not trade or deal in dogs.[28] According to El Fadl, this shows the cultural biases against dogs as a source of moral danger.[25]

In a tradition found in the Sunni hadith book, al-Muwatta, Muhammad states that the company of dogs voids a portion of a Muslim’s good deeds.[30]

Attempt to Kill Danish Cartoonist Who Outraged Muslim World Foiled

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,581746,00.html

COPENHAGEN — Police foiled an attempt to kill an artist who drew a cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad that sparked outrage in the Muslim world, the head of Denmark's intelligence service said Saturday.

Jakob Scharf, who heads the PET intelligence service, said a 28-year-old Somalia man was armed with an ax and a knife when he attempted to enter Kurt Westergaard's home in Aarhus shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday.

Police shot the Somali man in a knee and a hand, authorities said. Preben Nielsen of the police in Aarhus said the suspect was seriously injured but his life was not in danger.

The man, who had a staying permit in Denmark, was to be charged Saturday with attempted murder for trying to kill Westergaard and a police officer, Scharf said. His name was not released in line with Danish privacy rules.

It was unclear whether the suspect managed to actually get inside the home of the 75-year-old cartoonist in Denmark's second largest city, 124 miles northwest of Copenhagen.

Westergaard, who had his 5-year-old granddaughter on a sleepover, called police and sought shelter in a specially made safe room in the house, Nielsen said. Police arrived two minutes later and tried to arrest the assailant, who wielded an ax at a police officer. The officer then shot the man.

Westergaard could not be reached for comment. He told his employer, the Jyllands-Posten daily, that the assailant shouted "revenge" and "blood" as he tried to enter the bathroom where Westergaard and the child had sought shelter.

"My grandchild did fine," Westergaard said, according to the newspaper's Web edition. "It was scary. It was close. Really close. But we did it."

U.K. Woman Reports Rape, Charged for Sex Outside Marriage

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,582660,00.html?test=latestnews

A British woman who alleged that she was raped in Dubai on New Year’s Eve has had her passport confiscated and may face a jail sentence after she was charged with having sex outside marriage with her fiance.

The 23-year-old woman, a Muslim from London, of Pakistani origin, said that she was attacked by a man who is understood to be a worker in the hotel where she had been drinking with her fiance to celebrate their engagement during a three-day holiday in Dubai.

When she reported to the police that she had been raped, she and her partner, 44, were themselves jailed for sex outside marriage, which is illegal under the emirate’s laws. Unmarried couples are not allowed to share hotel rooms or live together, although many establishments turn a blind eye. The couple were also charged with being drunk outside licensed premises.

The Islamization of the World

http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NTYzNGQ0MzMyMjYyNTcxMjFkMjE5YTIyYzRhN2IzNjQ=

You said the Wilders Trial reminds you of justice in your country of origin, Iran. Is that not somewhat exaggerated?

“The Netherlands, of course, is not comparable with Iran, but it's about perception. If you cannot say that Islam is a backward religion and that Mohammed is a criminal, then you are living in an Islamic country, my friend, because there also you cannot say such things. Here I'm free to say that Christ was a faggot* and Mary was a whore, but apparently I should stay off of Mohammed.”
