Sounds like some sort of vast, right-wing conspiracy. Cool.

Ed, could you pass on a suggestion? Why doesn't Fox offer its news shows, or at least its specials, as streaming videos? As it stands, there are maybe a few clips of segments at Fox News, and some pirate stuff on YouTube. But things like Stossel, who is unavailable to people who can't get Fox Business, and things like Beck's recent Progressive Holocaust special and Bret Baier's Obama in his Own Words should be available archived on the internet. I'd be happy to watch such things with commercials on Hulu.com, and so, I think, would many others. Bend Stossel's ear when you get a chance.

John Stossel interview
Dennis Miller, The Dennis Miller Show

[Miller:] I’m reading Fountainhead again right now and I now imagine Peter Keating as Barack Obama in my head as I read it, but when I watched [your] Ayn Rand show a couple weeks ago -- boy -- her true devotees have that glaze in their eyes, don’t they? That one guy who was sort of Boswell to her Sam Johnson? He was a true believer, wasn’t he?

[Stossel:] They are. You know, the people I had on the show, they were pretty smart. One guy ran a very successful bank.

[Miller:] Yeah, that was the guy on the right. I’m talking … They were all fine. Listen, I’m an Ayn Rand fan myself, but when I read the biography of her -- she was a bit of a whack dame, and you weren’t gonna get the guy on the left [an apparent reference to Yaron Brook, president of the Ayn Rand Institute] to budge almost on anything.

[Stossel:] Oh no, and these debates they have over Objectivism and how many angels can dance on the head of a pin just lose me.

[Miller:] Right, you can sense that they would want nothing more than to be in that lower Lexington apartment with her, the old man off drinking in the corner, just going over the minutae of that night after night.

Good questions. I suspect they'd say that they want to draw audience with the broadcasts to attract sponsors but I don't know their business model. And I'm not sure what Stossel's ratings are for the new show. Maybe Fox is using it to get more cable providers to pick up the Fox Business Channel. I know the only reason I was subscribing to Showtime was to watch Penn and Teller who kick butt!

Even then, when they put a lot of work into specials like Obama in his Own Words you'd think they would want more of an audience than two weekend showings.

Just received this from Karen:

Hudgins on Stossel Show! Rescheduled to 2/11 at 8:00PM
Dr. Edward Hudgins, who directs advocacy and is a senior scholar at The Atlas Society, took part in a recording of "The Stossel Show" on January 28, 2010.  The topic of the show is"The Road to Serfdom." Ed explained the problem of excess government and discussed the phenomenon of "Going Galt". Another featured guest was pro-freedom film producer Thor Halvorssen

The Fox Business Channel will broadcast the Stossel Show featuring Ed on Thursday, February 11, 2010. The show is broadcast Thursday at 8:00pm Eastern Time with various rebroadcasts. Check your local listings. Don't miss it!

A look at America today suggests that the country is on the same path to destruction that was the core of the plot in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. But many producers are protesting their treatment-see the signs at Tea Parties and town hall meeting-or actually escaping their persecutors.

You can read Ed's related piece "Protest of the Producers" on our website.

And don't miss his piece "The Prophetic Atlas Shrugged," which is featured in the Fall 2009 issue of The New Individualist.

The Fox Business Channel can be found on RCN Cable (Digital) on Channel 157; on RCN Cable (Rebuild Digital) on Channel 316 or 654; on Comcast (Digital) on Channel 106; on C-Span In House on Channel 020; on DISH TV on Channel 206; and on DIRECTV on Channel 359.

We apologize for the misunderstanding that lead many to believe the broadcast date was the date of filming. We've got it all clear now!

Just got an email from Stossel Show and it's Feb. 11!

By the way, I've been having serious posting problems with RofR. I used three different computers but couldn't enter text into the text box.

So if you don't get an answer to some profound question posted to be on RofR, the problem might be in the software.
