Matthews,

In a psychological sense, Wolfer's constant reference to one's gender and age is as fascistic as it gets.

Notice that I only do that with you, Matthews. I don't ever discuss anyone elses age or gender. So, is it still 'fascisitic as it gets' to make references to Matthews' age and gender? Am I a "Matthews Only Fascist"?

I'll admit that I make reference to your being a girl just to get your goat - I do that because you are annoying. The reference to your age does double duty. It lets me get your goat while making a valid observation that you were a teenager just last year and are filled with hubris if you think you are now a mature and wise adult when your disrespectful, illogical whines and rants and name-calling indicate otherwise.

You are in deep intellectual trouble if you mistake comments about gender or age, comments that don't carry any implied or suggested legal actions or political orientation, as being defining political markers.

You just want to slander me because you don't like things I've said and you hope to fool others into believing that your slander has some factual basis. That's pretty despicable.

When you first got here, and were attacked, I defended you. At this point, I wish I hadn't. Calling some one a fascist who clearly isn't, should be an offense that gets one put in Dissent.

'Such as...Thales' is generic, as is, 'for example'.

Okay.  Who was practicing philosophy ca. 800 BC?  The Wikipedia article cites both Aristotle and Russell as saying that Thales, some 200 years later, was the first.

My high school intro textbook ... cites 'gignos--' as 'to learn', to become familair with.

That's true, but gignosos is still not a word in Greek or English.

Techne--, to my knowledge, is not cited as a verb.

I didn't say it was.  I said that it's the word for skill or art and that milking cows, your example, was a good example.  L&S has listings for τεχναζω (use art or cunning) and τεχναομαι (make by art), though.

I'm not interested in Rand's and Branden's biography.

You were interested enough only yesterday to pronounce their breakup.  When did the boredom set in?

fascist - a person who practices or believes in a system of government where a dictator has complete control.

bigot - a person who is prejudiced, or intolerant of those who are different.

Calling Steve a fascist is absurd. Even if it doesn't apply to Steve, bigot is a far better word. But what can we expect from a loose cannon?

I know what we call the polite resistor of rape:  "The raped."

I know what we call the polite resistor of slavery: "Slave."

So, what would the generic term be for someone who politely resists forced association?

"The un-free?"

Huh? Kindly indicate where I gave you that opinion.

#92:

I just discovered that Branden broke with Rand over the issue of 'the ethics of selfishness'.

I raised several questions in #101.  I'd be interested in your answers to as many others possible.

Should I have said 'intellectual rupture' instead of 'broke with'?

It is not exactly news seeing as she died before you were born.  There isn't much to talk about really especially with someone as clearly gifted as yourself.  Us lowly fissiles clearly could not comprehend your superior insights into such things anyways.  Wait neither can anyone else. Best to bring it to the attention of the Lit department so they can tell you how you should think.

re# 118

No, again, it's the Psychology Department that tells me how to think, to which I must confess a total brainwashing.

Uncle Fred's writing is sent to Lit for contextual analysis. 'Best they can make of it is that he's a FLQ sleeper. Bordel! Tanarnac! Mange la marde!

Qu'est-ce? Pas "manger de la merde et mourir?" Vous devez vraiment aimer votre oncle Fred. Je suis ému au-delà des mots.
