| | How stupidly pathetic! What a perfect example of how mystical voodoo undercuts efficacy in the real world. The minute people start 'praying' is the minute their minds stop looking for real solutions. It reinforces a child like approach of turning to others be they God or the government. And if someone is going to be irrational enough to believe that a some superpower in the sky is going to make the oil disappear, then it is easy to demand irrational results from government or companies and that is but a short step away from acting irrationally politically.
Sometimes persisting towards what MUST be done means taking an action that is futile despite being in the right direction - like going down to the beach with plastic bags and a shovel on the week-end. Out of that tiny, futile effort towards containing 120,000,000 gallons of oil there may arise effective solutions - because the energy is going the right direction, because they haven't given up and because they haven't closed their minds or adopted unreality. But out of 'prayer' will only come impotence and failure.
And religion masks itself as benevolent!
