And most bizarrely, it is reported that American military personnel, probably at the orders of the White House, gave bin Laden a religious funeral in accordance with Muslim practices for his burial at sea.

I thought that was bizarre too since I thought Obama had insisted in the past Bin Laden wasn't a true Muslim, so why bother giving someone who isn't a Muslim a Muslim burial? Well at least some Muslim scholars believe a burial at sea is a violation of Islamic code, so there's that silver lining.

If I wanted to start a conspiracy theory, I'd surmise that the Seals captured Osama Bin Laden alive, and they plan on water-boarding him till they have as much info as they can get, (all done on the carrier), THEN shoot him in the head and toss him over in the dark of the night.

The burial at see with the observation of Muslim traditions, and the story for the press about not leaving a monument, some Photoshop work... all planned ahead.

Just being a trouble-maker :-)

I like it, Steve. I like it. My kind of conspiracy theory. But what is this "burial at sea"? You mean, they tossed him overboard. Okay, call it "burial at sea," if you want. Makes it sound so formal and dignified. Pity they couldn't have thrown him overboard while he was still alive.

Hey, when I die, I want a "burial at sea." It'll save on funeral expenses. Just dump me in the ocean and let the tides carry me away. No elaborate ceremony necessary. I've always had a fascination with Neptune. ;-)

My conspiracy theory has them doing a formal burial at sea within 24 hours and releasing the video of that - but the reality is they used a dummy wrapped in a sheet and pretending it was Bin Laden.

Now everyone thinks he is fish food, and the intelligence people have all the time they want to do the water-boarding on him - right there on the aircraft carrier. When they are done - months later - they just toss him off the stern in the dark of the night tied to a heavy weight.
