| | They recognize the temporary nature of China's liberalization, and are unsure about when the winds will change, or how abruptly they will change, and so, are escaping the inevitable grab while they still can.
Deng Xiaoping had a long view. What he reassuringly said was, 'I don't care if it is a black cat or a white cat, as long as it catches mice.'
What some accurately heard was, 'We are the mice.'
Mao's Cultural Revolution failed, Deng thought, because Mao tried to leap striaght to communism (carve the carcass) before the necessary capitalism phase( build the beast.)
China's move towards a liberalization is only temporary, and is brilliant.
1] Build the beast while helping America gut its own carcass.
2] Provide enough liberalization in China to build a beast sufficient to kickstart a reborn communist vision of world dominance in some near horizon post American century, in which a gasping America will beg to join in the totalitarian fun on its own, without firing a shot.
The resulting convergence will not find anything remotely like Reagan's America anywhere near power.
Freedom will be dead; it will have been a stop along the way.
Until heads roll again.
