Yes, birthday appreciation to Ayn Rand for her gifts. The greater of them was not political, but personal, fine as her political design is. No need to wait for a fully free society to make a good life, with some intellectual help from Rand. America has always been only semi-free in one way or another. The semi-freedom we enjoy today and the benevolence in our society today and the fitness of our society today for making a good human life for oneself, each is vast. Not to say we cannot make the legal framework better, only to say good life right here is possible, it exists, it's yours.

I really like the following biographical film of Rand’s life and her ideas: Ayn Rand in Her Own Words

I second the recommendation for Ayn Rand in Her Own Words. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks to Stephen for mentioning it and to Ed for the opinion posting.

Ed,

That was an excellent summary of Ayn Rand's views - very well written.

And it was joy to watch that video of Senator Ron Johnson - enough people of that caliber in office and our problems would be over.
