Ed,

Good article. It's sad watching the 'Arab Spring' turn into winter without a single green leaf to be found - but I don't know how anyone could have rationally imagined it turning out differently. Rather than an 'Arab Spring' its more like digging up the ancient corpse of the Caliphate, hoping to bring it to life with the blood and terror of Jihad.

You wrote, "Obama followed his moral cowardice over Iran with support for Morsi." I'm not sure it was cowardice. My suspicion is that he has a strange kind of attraction for the politically active Muslim fundamentalist. Not because they are fundamentalists, or because they are Muslim, but some kind of strange attraction akin to what the old left used to feel for Stalin and the Communists. They used to have some kind of visceral reaction to those tyrants willing to exercise total power. And, Obama may have some kind of emotional solidarity with the terrorists that arises out of his intense anti-colonial attitudes.

"Perhaps it’s because Obama does not believe in these principles [of individual liberty] that he remains silent." Very well said!

Good points! For purposes of length I excluded a section about Obama's apology tours where he blamed America in part for many of the world's problems, another leftist urge. So he was sympathetic to anti-American protests. Also he deluded himself into thinking that if he just sucked up to tyrants that they would see reason. So he shut up when millions of Iranians stood up to their oppressors. Not moral cowardice up outright immorality!
