Perhaps half a million titles have been sold.  (See my tally here.)  Note that The Ayn Rand Society may have bought half of them for free distribution to schools.  That being so, it remains that that students from Catholic high schools are often winners (place and show) in the essay contests. Certainly, they are seldom assigned these books.  The kids find them on their own.
