I wasn't able to read the article since I don't have a Wall Street Journal subscription. :-(

You might want to try another browser. When I click I get the headline and a big ad to subscribe to WSJ, but with a "no thanks" button somewhere as well.

I tried Microsoft Edge and Chrome and the browser on my android phone, but there was never a "No Thanks."

Oh, well, I can't have everything I want :-)

Why do religionists need daily confirmation by society? "Can you be (physicists, liberal, etc.) and believe in god?" are the most "hard hitting" questions they take time to answer these days. Are they losing confidence?

Objectivists don't need to ask "can you be a _______ and an Objectivist?" If the answer is no, you probably don't want to be _________. But for the religionist, he already knows __________ is good, he just needs to make it conform to his beliefs. In other words, his beliefs are not a lens for which he sees the world (it would be impossible to live a happy life that way), but simply a mold he tries to force over everything he sees.
